Shop Talk: Thann

Time to clear up the confusion about Thann, the luxurious new-ish spa product store in the Glebe. Yes, it is related to Harnn & Thann, but apparently customers were a bit overwhelmed by 14 lines of beauty products, so they separated, which meant streamlining the offerings (and dropping Harnn). A bit confusing for now, but Harnn & Thann’s Westboro location will switch to Thann within the year.

The look: dark decor, exotic scents

The labels: Thann

Perfect for: Bathing beauties and those who love them

USP: Just visiting this store is like a trip to the spa. Smells nice — and so serene!

Shop Talk: Mountain Equipment Co-op

The people who introduced gearheads to cooperative ownership are at it again, this time drumming up enthusiasm for cycling in the city. On Sunday, June 20, Mountain Equipment Co-op will host its first Bikefest at Lebreton Flats. Scheduled events include demos and clinics, plus there’s bound to be plenty of gossip among local cycling groups about the new bike lanes coming to Ottawa streets.

The look: Pretty and practical

Perfect for: weekend warriors, city dwellers who bike to work, and camping enthusiasts looking for a cute campfire ensemble
