With another week of warm weather ahead of us it’s hard to believe that October is upon us. You might be ready to pull on your boots and tights, but if your day includes an afternoon jaunt those extra layers can feel suffocating.

But the chilly weather will come soon. Is your fall wardrobe ready?

This season, we’re trying to be very strategic about our purchases. A visit to the new Target helped fill in some important gaps. But now we’re ready for the investments. Here, we look at three upcoming events — and plot our plan of attack.

Viens Avec Moi’s Fall into Fashion Event
Thursday, Oct. 3rd
5:30-8 p.m.
Viens Avec Moi, 1338 Wellington St. W.

Shop new fall merch while sipping bubbly. While you’re there try out Jamberry Nails — Jennifer from Jamberry will be in store with her non-toxic vinyl wraps.

Sarah wants:  Pour La Victoire shoes for fall. I’d love to check out the new stock, maybe pick up a new bootie. I’ll also look for that zig zag dress from Bernice & Barclay that I have been coveting since we saw it walk down the runway at OFW.

Dayanti wants: The idea of having colourful nails is very attractive. I let mine go back in August! JennyBird jewellery really packs a punch — I’m looking for a long chain necklace and possibly some earrings. Love these ones!

Dayanti wants Yoga Jeans (in black or indigo, in case Santa is reading this)

The Ottawa Big Fashion Sale by La Braderie
Friday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 6
See website for hours
Ernest & Young Centre, 4899 Uplands Dr.

Shop collections from over 60 designers for discounts of up to 80 percent. La Braderie de la Mode Quebecoise visits Ottawa for the first time, bringing awesome pieces from Montreal, Quebec City, and Ottawa with them!

Sarah wants: I would love to add a few more classic Ca Va De Soi pieces to my wardrobes. I love how you can find sample pieces that no one else will have because only a few were created (and at such great discounts). Also would love another flattering fitted dress from Melow and a leather jacket from Rudsak.

Dayanti wants: Yoga Jeans from Second Clothing! It’s also time for another Ca Va De Soi dress, or maybe I’ll finally find that perfect grey blazer…

Schad House Warming
Wednesday, Oct. 2
6-9 p.m.
Schad, 521 Sussex Dr.

Go check out (and shop) the newly revamped Schad boutique. Beer, bubbly, and bonbons will be served. Gift bags to the first 100 purchasers!

Sarah wants: Cydwoq heels from Wolf & Zed. I’ve had my eyes on those for awhile.

Dayanti wants: A new coat! Every fall I swear I will invest, and every year I postpone. Will this be the year that I reitre my beloved three-season Cowichan, and buy something that doesn’t fit in around a campfire?
